Quite simply put, this game is addicting. It takes large amounts of skill to acquire all 150 pokemon and the bonus stages keep injecting fun change-ups into the play. Not to mention there are two considerably different playing levels (red/blue), both of which you have to master to get all the pokemon. Also the high-scores are nice for the competitive player. The built-in rumble pack is a cute feature, though it is nice that it is optional (you can play the game sans rumble withuot using the extra AAA battery). And speaking of technical specs, it was SUCH a nice surprise that the game works fine on my Gameboy Pocket that I accidentally bought it for in addition to the Gameboy Color that is says it is for on the package. Overall: great game to take a step back to simpler times, might not be robust/involved enough to pay top-dollar for though.

i had this game when i was little and i lost it i have looked all over for it but never found it so i started looking everywhere for it and never found it till i started looking on here and now that i have it again im very happy about it

If you are kind of new to Pokemon and don't know much about pokemon you should get this game. It's just a pinball game when you have to catch pokemons. I bought this at an Ebgames for 2.99. You can probably get a cheaper price for it unless you read my review at felt that it is so good you have to recive it in the next 24 hours. After you know a lot about this game you probably already know enough about these games to start with Ruby or Blue or Gold. If you want this game new get it for GBA unless you are stuck with a Game Boy Color. I liked the game so much I bouught it for Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. The difference is that in one of them it shakes the Game Boy which is highly rare. But you have to have a AAA battery for your game. This is a great game.

Okay, I am not a pokemon fan at all, but I have to say that I love this game. You can choose from two different tables, red or blue. This game can become very addicting. If you are a pinball fan and not a pokemon fan, you can still enjoy this game. I highly recommened it.

When I bought it it worked for like 10 mins. I couldnt even figer out how to work it. It came with BAD instructions. It even takes batteries. DONT GET IT!!!!

For those a little poky about catching onto the Pokémon craze, this game is a great way for the uninitiated to get their feet wet. Also, pinball fanatics should not dismiss this as a kid's game, because it's a solid pinball game, regardless of the Pokémon brand...

Gamespot was right, the 2 tables are painfully simple. The tables are small. Good parts of the screen is hogged up by useless space. Many requirements of a good pinball game are missing. Not enough ramps and rails with only one way traffic. No chance for 'roller' coaster combos and loops. Sure the graphics is colorful and pretty good and teeming with stuff but they just don't help. The tables feel like home-made wooden pinball box machines, just too simple and plain. Catching pokemon is fun, you get to see various creatures from the anime show. Gameplay is cheesy, the pinball fun factor is low and loaded with interrupted actions. This game is good for pokemon lovers, I would not recommended it for pinball lovers. IMO pinball of the dead, muppet pinball mayhem, and sonic pinball are all better. Overall this is not a good pinball game, it gets boring too quick.

It was a heckuva journey - off and on - nearly five years of my life. Lost several high scoring games due to power failures, breaks in mental concentration, arrogance, surprising interruptions and an earthquake. Had to deal with a tsunami, personal and professional crises, and the passing of a very special loved one - all of that time - hours upon hours upon hours... but I finally "cracked" the rollover for this game. As predicted years ago (and via a shocking manner) I hit the magic 999,999,999,999 score. Not a joke or an exaggeration. Here are a couple of links to scan/pictures I took of the screen. I DID NOT digitally alter them. I did not fake them. And if you're interested - read on - because I have a heckuva story to tell you how it came to be. Scan: [...] Picture: [...] I started playing this game originally because I had a difficult time getting to the lone game center that still carried pinball machines - work having dominated most of my life, taking time off was virtually impossible. And as a lifelong fan of pinball - not having access was a unique type of torture. The Game Boy was originally for my wife - but it wasn't long before I discovered the precursor to the Ruby & Saffire version of the Pokemon Pinball game - a fairly straightforward game with the old school pixelated graphics some of you may remember before the quantum leap made in the past decade with visual texturizing and small screen graphics. After finishing it - I went on the hunt for my next 'fix'. When I saw that a new version had been published in the years that had passed while I toyed with the original game - let's just say that I paid for overnight express without blinking an eye. After quickly capturing all two-hundred Pokemon I decided my next goal would be getting to the "max score" - which I mistakenly believed was 100 Billion - or so I thought based on what I presumed where the numbers indicating the score "could fit" on the screen. I see from another reviewer that she thought the same thing. However, you can imagine my shock when I hit that 100 Billion - only to see that my score kept climbing. Doing a bit of quick math noting the time it took to get to 100B and noting the other "9's" that made up the game, it didn't take long before I realized in abject horror, that the rollover was likely 1 point short of a Trillion! If I were going for it - I was in for one helluva long ride. I took about a month off to decide whether or not I wanted to waste that much of my life in this attempt. So - I picked it up and began in earnest. I could go on about the failures and ****-ups that occurred over the ensuing years. LIke when I first broke 160 Billion and forgot to charge the battery - gone. The 270 Billion I lost when I clicked off the game without saving first - gone. OBTW this action would have profound and devastating affects nearly a year later when on October 15, 2006 - Hawaii was rocked with a big earthquake. I was playing the game at 630 Billion - well on the way to my rollover goal. When it hit - I freaked in the fear that my apartment building might collapse, crushing my wife and four-legged kid - gone. Or how I lost another 200 Billion when my kid decided that she needed to eat by stepping on my stomach - and in frustration I clicked the game off - gone. :-D Ah, good memories. After the earthquake - I put the game down - resolved that I would not waste one more minute of my mortal life doing what essentially amounted to playing with myself. Nearly eight months passed. C'mon - you never 'relapsed' on something? Chocolate. Smokes. A girl. Something. I picked it up again - and started playing. But this time - I would not be deterred by freakish events, poor mental conditioning, distractions, and anything that could possibly result in failure. I was determined. One year, one month, and three days later - I stood at 998 Billion with an easy drop of the ball to see the magic happen. So against all instinct - I did. Guess what happened? The score went from 998 Billion - flashed - then went to 445 Billion. WTF?!?!?!! }:-0 You have NO IDEA the convoy of profanity that exploded from me. None. When pressed I can string together words that haven't been heard in a century - in multiple languages. (learning foreign curse words is sort of a side hobby of mine) After about an hour of screaming I sat down. Calmly turned the game off - saving first naturally - and decided that I had indeed been a victim of a tragic and horrible joke set out by the engineers and programmers of Nintendo. What should I do - mail bomb? No, too much federal time. Fake white powder - again, doing hard time in some federal gladiator school didn't seem much like revenge. A stern harshly worded letter? Laughable - I mean I could literally see the Nintendo folks laughing - at me. No, there was no recourse. So I put the game down and walked away. Three months passed and I was bored - needed to get to sleep and reached for the damnable box. I figured I could at least work my way back to 990-ish Billion - take a picture to prove (again) that I had reached the mirage of The Promised Land; so that there would be a record, a testament if you will, to the triumph of focus & determination and an "in-your-face" to the evil ones at Nintendo. I started again. Then something completely shocking happened. I played as I have always done a thousand times before - nothing special, nothing weird - I lost the ball. I waited for the score to tally up - suddenly there was a flash. Very similar to the one you see when you're capturing a pokemon by putting the ball through the top slots in order to hit the bumpers three times in succession for a quick capture. Another flash. Suddenly - there it was. 999,999,999,999! I screamed - this time in joy. Making ultimate sure to SAVE the game - I put it down. Stunned, drained and exhausted. The proof is in the pudding - I have the eighth ball I played (luckily) as the choice slot is engaged - so as long as I don't use Zigzagoon to stop/hit the slot - it will be forever be at One Point Short Of A Trillion. I'm smiling as I type this. {:-)

My niece gave me her old Gameboy advance, because she was given a Nintendo DS for Christmas. I smiled and thanked her for giving me the Gameboy, because I knew how precious it was to her. I inserted the pinball game and found it very ejoyable and relaxing. Because she was reluctant to give me the pinball game along with the Gameboy player, I ordered a pinball disc for myself through Amazon. It was delivered within a couple of days, and has been a pleasure to use - and very relaxing, as well. Who'd have thought . . .

This game is worth buying if you can find it under $10. This game is a very good game for pinball and pokemon fans alike. There is realy no real point in this game so even if you find all the pokemon you can still have fun playing. If you read this review and you say what the #@%! is he talking about I would never buy that I don't blame you it is NOT that great of a game. If your like me you will play it a lot for the first week and play it less and less and finaly stop playing it. If you are looking for a pokemon RPG this is not your game. I realy do not know much about pokemon (I got the game as a gift I never would have bought it) If you don't like pokemon you can still enjoy it but pinball haters (like me) wouldn't enjoy it. I gave it 3 stars because if your not a realy big pokemon fan you will not like it that much.

This game is fun for someone who likes Pokemon AND pinball. But if you are just buying it beacuse you are obbsessed with pokemon, prepare to b dissapointed. You must actully like pinball to play this game.

The reason I think this game is awesome, is because...wello it is we just purchased it and me and my friends were playing it then I talked my mother into it she loves it! So we are going to play it as a family (since we have 4 people). Everyone should buy this if they like Pokemon and Pinball!

My 6 & 8 year olds sons received this toy for Christmas. They are HUGE Pokemon fans so just the fact that it has Pokemon pictures on it made the toy worth it. Fortunately, it also happens to be fun to play. 2 to 4 players try to allow the fewest balls possible past their own paddles. The fewest points wins. Each player has their own scorekeeper for up to 5 games. Setting up the game after every round gets a little tedious, however it's not so bad if everyone helps. The 2 best things for me are that I don't mind playing (unlike the actual Pokemon cards which are a boring nightmare for me!) and it doesn't require batteries!! My 3 year old daughter likes to play too although she loses every time. We just don't tell her. If your kids like Pokemon, this is a good toy.

This product is disappointingly small for any one interested in a spheal plushie, but its one of the very few spheal plushies out there that aren't custom made. However, it looks fairly well made.
